AllStars2015 3After three postponements due to very rainy weather, the 2015 Howie Osterer Junior League All Star Game was played Tuesday December 27 at the Baptist Village in Petah Tikvah. Team North had representatives from Misgav, Tel Aviv, Ra'anana, and Tel Mond. The team South was comprised of players from Jerusalem, Modiin, and Bet Shemesh. The teams were managed by the head coach of the team placed first in each division at the end of the fall season.

The South got the scoring started early with an RBI double by Jerusalem's Michael Goldberg. The North tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the 1st inning. But over the next innings, the South pulled away with the game with more extra base hits from Noam Wine of Modiin and Avi Alter of Bet Shemesh. The South's hitting was backed up by a strong pitching performance from Ari Rosenbaum, also from Bet Shemesh, who had 5 strike outs in 2 innings of work. Team North was able to scrap 2 more runs in the final inning of the game, but it was not enough.Team South won the game by a final score of 12-3.

The family of Ezra Schwartz was in attendance. Ezra was killed last month in a terrorist attack while on a gap year program in Bet Shemesh. He had played four years of high school baseball and planned on playing in the IAB's premier league this spring. IAB president Peter Kurz and Ari Schwartz, Ezra's father, spoke before the game about Ezra's love of baseball and the plans to build a field in Ra'anana dedicated to Ezra.
